Obituary for Leroy McKnight

Leroy McKnight was born December 2, 1963 in Rochester, New York to the late Martha
Williams and Willis McKnight Sr. Educated in the Rochester City Schools, he graduated from Franklin High School. While in school, his extracurricular activities included boxing and kickball.

Leroy’s work history included positions with various companies such as Zweigle’s, Red Wing Stadium and
the Mapledale Party House. An outgoing individual, Leroy enjoyed laughing, dancing, playing cards and partying, cooking his famous lasagna, and spending time with family and friends.

He lived with his aunt Sarah for a period of time, and the two of them would watch “Soul Train” together, learn the dance moves and as a team, perform them in local dance contests, winning numerous awards. Leroy was fashion conscious and was known as a sharp dresser. With his magnetic personality, winning smile, and personal charm, he was popular with the ladies.

Leroy transitioned his earthly life on December 12, 2022. He is predeceased by: his daughter, Fajah McKnight; his parents, Martha Williams and Willis McKnight Sr.; 1 brother, Willis McKnight Jr.; 3 sisters: Teresa Edwards, Willimena McKnight, and Aldreana McKnight, and a special cousin, Tarrell McKnight. He leaves to mourn their loss and cherish his memory: 1 son, Leroy McKnight Jr.; 3loving siblings: Brenda Irby, Tina Gash and William McKnight; 1 uncle, Martin Coker; his companion, Shanna Bethel, and a host of other loved ones and friends. Leroy was a loving brother, uncle and father who brought joy to all who knew him. He will definitely be missed by a very large host of family and friends.
