Obituary for Lillie Mae Hamilton
Lillie Mae Hamilton, born on May 25, 1937, to Tommy Hamilton and Willie Kate Daniels, in Cordele, Georgia. At an early age her family relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida.
Lillie attended Kindergarten – 10th grade at Rigby Junior High School. Her last two years of high school she attended Campbell Street High School, where she graduated. Shortly after graduation, she relocated to Rochester, NY, with her uncle, the late Reverend Milton Daniels Sr. During her life, she had several jobs which included working as a nursing assistant, and hostess at Sibley’s. She decided to make a career change in 1974, and began working at Kodak. She worked on the Assembly Line, in the Dark Room, and retired as an Inspector in 1999, after 25 years of employment. Following retirement, she wanted to give back to the community and worked part-time as a cashier at Marshall High School.
Lillie professed her life to Christ at any early age. She was a member of Holy Trinity Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Milton Daniels Sr., where she served on the Usher Board and sang in the Choir. She later transferred her membership to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, currently under the leadership of Pastor James L. Cherry Jr. She loved working in the church serving others and cherished praising the Lord. Serving in several ministry areas: Willing Workers, Hospitality, and Senior Choir, but her favorite was working in the kitchen for many years, until her health prevented her from serving. As a result of her generous spirit, and her pleasant personality she was loved by many. Her influence and wisdom will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She peacefully transitioned from earth to eternal rest on February 24, 2021, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s disease. She was predeceased by her parents, Tommy Hamilton and Willie Kate Daniels; daughter, Jelean Bostick; and four 4 siblings, Tommy Hamilton Sr., Samuel Hamilton, Eddie Bradley, and Junior Bradley.
She will be remembered for her love of cooking and bowling skills. She loved to cook her signature dishes macaroni and cheese, pound cake and cheesecake. She spent many years perfecting her hobby as a bowler and played on a bowling league. She was totally dedicated to her children and grandchildren in all aspects of their lives. She was a unique and caring person that touched the lives of all that knew her. To know her was to love her.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her five children Henry Bostick, Russell Bostick, Ronnie Bostick, Robert (Petra) Upshaw, and Adrianne Upshaw; one brother, Richard (Martha) Hamilton; fourteen grandchildren, Anthony Bostick, Lashanda Gunner, Jonathan Burrows, Simone Staples (Aaron), Latitia Jackson, Latoya Bewley, Brittany Upshaw, Tamara (Marcus) Paulk, Byron Jones Jr., Antonia Lee, Chantelle Little, Cieryah Jordan, Joseph Bostick, Rayshawn Bostick; eleven great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Mary and Bessie Hamilton; a longtime friend, Arthur “Big Tony” Upshaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
