Obituary for Samuel L. Devine Sr.

Samuel Lee Devine Sr. was born on May 3, 1939 in Cordele, Georgia to the late Porter and Leila Devine.


Sam faithfully served in the infantry in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. He worked over 30 years as a hammersmith at Firth Rixson Monroe Forgings.


In 1959, Sam married the late Pauline Allen (Devine) and from this union four sons (Samuel L. Jr., Jake, Carl and Kelvin) were born. Sam enjoyed bowling, having cookouts and spending time with family and friends.


His life ended on May 21, 2020 at the age 81. He is predeceased by four brothers: Benjamin Smith, James Thomas Smith, Robert Otis Smith, and Porter L. Devine Sr.; one sister, Geraldine Flowers. He leaves to cherish his memory: four sons: Samuel L. (Brenda) Devine Jr. of Rochester, New York, Jake (Josephine) Devine and Carl (Belinda) Devine, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Kelvin Devine of Rochester, New York; seven grandchildren: Shameka, Tiffani, Jake, Tecia, Brittany, Shayla and Sheree Devine; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie L. Harris of Avon Park, Florida; dear friends, Dorothy Mullins and Audrey Miller, as well as other loving relatives and close friends.
