Obituary for Standford Ingram Sr.

STANDFORD F. INGRAM SR. was born October 1, 1965 in Rochester, New York to Cecil A. Ingram Sr. and Corinne Jordan Ingram. He attended Rochester City Schools, graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1983. Entering the U.S. Army, he served one year before being medically discharged.

While growing up, Stan enjoyed break dancing, being a DJ and spending time with friends. He became involved with the Boy Scouts, and he utilized every skill he learned. A sports enthusiast, Stan was athletic from a young age, competing in numerous tournaments and winning trophies for his abilities. His activities included predominately boxing, (which was his favorite), basketball, football, wrestling and cross country. His interest in professional sports continued in adulthood, with his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Knicks. Stan had a number of hobbies consisting of reading, gardening, studying history, fishing and listening to all genres of music. Above all, he loved God, having accepted Christ at an early age at Northside Church of Christ.

In 1986, he met his beloved wife of 31 years, Rachell M. Ingram. He was the father of four children: Standford F. Ingram Jr., Jasmine C. Ingram, Jade E. Ingram and Michael Ingram. Stan was a devoted, loving husband and father.

His family was from Barbados, and he was blessed to visit Barbados many times with his father, learning the traditions of his native land. Not only did he become acquainted with his family traditions, he brought those traditions back, shared and maintained them with his family in the States.
Although he battled illness for much of his life, he never gave up, but kept himself busy serving others. He was a driver for the Public Market, in addition to becoming a licensed locksmith. He was also an Ombudsman, advocating for senior citizens.
Stan is predeceased by his parents, Cecil A. Ingram Sr. and Corinne Jordan Ingram, and two brothers, Lewis F. and Cecil A. Ingram Jr. He departed this life but not our hearts, on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rachell Ingram; two sons, Standford Ingram Jr. and Michael Ingram; two daughters, Jasmine Ingram and Jade Ingram; seven grandchildren; three brothers: Vincent T. Ingram, Gordon (Tammie) Ingram and Kevin (Helen) Jordan; nieces and nephews, relatives in Barbados, Canada and London, and a host of cousins and sorrowing friends.

Friends may call Friday Sept. 27, 2019 from 7PM - 9PM at the funeral home 109 West Avenue. Service Saturday September 28, 2019 at 11 AM at the funeral home.
